What is the best workout machine? Elliptical or treadmill? Or other?
I would like to purchase the best workout machine available… which is it & why?
Some say the treadmill & some say the elliptical!!!
If you have information or facts please leave them.
Thanks!
Using an elliptical will generally burn more calories than the same amount of time walking on a treadmill. If you’re planning on running, then I would say go for the treadmill. But if you’re just looking for a nice, easy workout that you can do in a short amount of time, I would say go for the elliptical.
Both machines are low impact, but I am prone to shin splints and I have found that my feet are not able to absorb the shock of running or jogging on a treadmill. The elliptical in this regard is much easier if you issues with your joints, etc.
I like the elliptical. Easier on the knees for me.
And I think its a like more fun

I’d go for the elliptical trainer. I have a treadmill and man it can get boring at times. The only good about the treadmill is that you can run and sometimes walk where as an elliptical trainer is just one function.

It depends on you.
Elliptical would be better because it is less strss on your knees. You are not running and pounding down your leg each time. But if you are looking for an indoor machine to duplicate running the treadmill will be best.

The elliptical machine is superior. It burns as many calories as a treadmill, involves your arms in the movement for a more complete workout, and puts far less strain on your knees than the treadmill.

Im a personal trainer and i find that when comparing ellipticals to treadmills,a workout on a treadmill will tend to increase heart rate faster and burn more calories over a period of time.
however, the elliptical is much easier on joints such as knees and ankles because it guides your steps, providing less impact on your joints.yet because of this,it usually takes longer to get to your desired target heart rate
if you have joint or back problems,an elliptical is best.if you are able to run easily without pain then the treadmill will probably be a better choice.
if you do decide to buy a treadmill, make sure there is a slight incline so that you wont put any extra stress on your joints when you run.it is much better on your body to go up a hill than down a hill or even on level ground.

i like the treadmill because all my weight is in my mid section and thighs. the eliptical makes me work my arms which seems like using extra energy that could be working on my lower body. plus i like being able to walk AND run. i also think its easier to watch tv, listen to music, or read something on the treadmill because your upper body isnt in a lot of motion.

OMG save your money, go for a run, do push ups and sit ups. By varing your hand/arm positions you can acutally work out almost every muscle in your upper body.
There is no need to buy an expensive machine totally worthless, they take up space, and take to much time to switch off piecies in order to work out differnt muscle groups.
There are lots of websites that describe the different kinds you can do, all without any equipment. If I can find the website i saw the other day I will get back on here and update this with the URL.
